To maximise the benefits of ComfyBed horse bedding we would recommend you bank the edges of your stable to give your horse a firm and supportive bed as well as improving the structure and aiding the mucking out process. You will need between 6-8 bales to create your initial ComfyBed for a standard 12'x12' stable.
To ensure a hygienic bed, droppings should be removed daily using gloves or a shavings fork.
Tip: By tossing the bedding up the banks the droppings will separate from the bedding and allow the removal of as little bedding as possible. Using a shovel, remove wet patches and move the drier top layer to the banks of the bed. More ComfyBed should be added when necessary to maintain a depth of roughly 6 inches- this is usually once a week but in many cases your ComfyBed can last much longer.
The nature of the wood fibres means that it is so easy to muck out your new ComfyBed! This saves you time, reduces wastage and you have a smaller muck heap which breaks down within twelve weeks to form an excellent biodegradable mulch.
Weekly maintenance will require 1 or 2 bales depending on the horse and the length of time spent in the stable on a weekly basis.
